Wasn't there are death in Fl a few years back, when one of the solder joints on a cheater bar cracked, and dumped all a diver's air? Most of them are silver soldered, and have limited tolerance for flexing, a situation aggravated by the fact that most of the people still using them are the same sort of people who tend to used them with oddball, improvised bands.
There was one cheater bar which addressed the problem, by putting a pigtail loop on one side, to add some resiliency to the setup. Still wouldn't use one, but if one was going to, that would be the one.
