There is a small difference diving the smaller wing. I dove my LCD 30 for a couple of years, before getting the TTW 17. The tiny wing vents instantly, which is nice; in tropical water, where you don't need much air in the wing, it gets up in the pontoons of the larger wing and you have to work a little harder to vent. That said, the larger wing is absolutely usable.

If you are going back and forth between warm and cold water, the weight plates are really nice, especially if you are one of those folks who really doesn't like weight belts.

Well I guess if there's no real difference between diving with the smaller and larger wing, the economical choice would be the one 35 Express Tech.

Thanks for your feedback guys

If you know the buoyancy of your cold water exposure suit there's a good chance you don't need a 35 lbs wing.

A 35 lbs positive exposure suit is pretty uncommon. For example most full 7mm suits are 18~24 lbs positive.

That makes a 26 lbs wing a reasonable choice.

Can one use a 35 in tropical conditions? Sure.

Is a smaller wing easier to dive? Yup.

There's a very good chance you could fill both of your applications with one wing.

The results will be better if you have good numbers on your suit.

Of course when starting this thread the Express Tech 35 was in stock at Leisurepro, but now isn't. This must be the diving Gods way of saying "Go with the DSS!" Haha

Why is it out of stock everywhere? Is it that in-demand, or are there production issues not being able to keep up?

I think the Zeagle Express Tech is a nice BCD. But I have never been a fan of wings with bungies or ones that have folds in them. I like more traditional wings like those on the Ranger or Concept but those wings are pretty big. I think the Express Tech with their All Elastic Wing would be a great warm water rig. If you needed more weight you can always add trim pockets.

Given that you are going to dive colder waters I think a backplate might be a better all round choice. I like the DSS 30lb wing cause it is a perfect choice between cold water and warm water. And it can grow with your diving.

So it sounds like Zeagle is waiting on the 24 and 35 bladder to come in, which is why everyone is out of stock. I was able to track 1 done, luckily enough! I will try the 24 on my trip to TCI. Worst case scenario, I sell it when I get back and go with DSS. Who knows, maybe I'll buy the DSS too when I get back...

Hopefully I enjoy it :)
