The DSS web site says the LCD 30 wings have:

"Built in elastomeric single tank stabilizer, no Single Tank Adapter needed!"

but they don't have any close up or large high res pictures of that area. I'm having a tough time deciding on whether to go with the LCD 30 or an Oxycheq Signature 30.

I'm definitely sold on the DSS SS backplate however - those elastomer inserts look fantastic and the layout of the plate seems really well thought out. Plus I like the option of adding the weight plates down the road if I need to.

Can someone that has this wing talk a bit more about this feature or send me a few pics of that area?

I assume that if I go with the Oxycheq Signature 30 instead, I'll be wanting an STA of some sort - maybe the 2 piece hammerhead one?

While I'm sure someone will post a pic soon, I've seen it once, it is about 4" long with "guides" on the edges to keep your tank from rocking. It is held in place via webbing. Honestly it is completely unique - not like any other STA I've seen, but my friend with the DSS rig said it worked great. Gotta say that Tobin has some very well thought out gear.

We do need some better pics. The piece you are interested in is molded out of black elastomer, and is sewn down wih black thread on to a black ballistic wing, in other words it's black on black, very hard to photograph well.

It has just occurred to me that I have pink 20 lbs wing that I can take a picture of. The stabilizer should show up well. Maybe later today or tomorrow I can get some photos up.

Here are some pics of mine. Really happy with this rig. Just a few dives on it and it is great!

Thanks very much for the pics and explaination! That really helps to understand this very unique feature of the DSS LCD 30.

I have only had mine in the pool for about an hour and the tank was extremely stable with ZERO wobble. I have the 40# wing but its the same design. The construction of the DSS wing is top notch. I am totally impressed. The only thing I miss is the little ball on the dump. I know, its probably not DIR but I miss it none the less. I guess I will just have to tie my own on.
