My new (to me) drysuit came with a pre-attached latex neck seal, which needed to be replaced.
I ordered a new one and got ready to glue it on, only to find out that the flange of the new seal has a wider circumference than the spot where the original seal was glued on to. The old seal (factory fitted) was attached at the seam of the suit and the hood.
Should I trim the flange of the new seal to match the opening? or would it be better to glue it further down the neck?
If I do glue it further down the neck, I am concerned about damage to the seam with the hood, as it is now exposed (actually covered with a layer of glue I applied before realizing that the new seal doesn't exactly match.) What would you do?
Also most instructions shows flattening the neck to glue the seal. It is rather hard to do when the neck has a hood attached to it. Can anyone offer any tips?
Thanks!
