Yes!

Diving with long hair is an issue for some of us.

Which is why I cut it!
:susp: Are you trying to convince us to cut our hair? Pah.
My mom tried to get me to cut it for 20 years, if she couldn't, you can't either. Nyah. :eek:ut:

It has taken me 5 years to grow my hair following a silly decision to have it cut very short. Short hair just doesn't suit my face, so I don't want to cut it. I guess I'll just have to put up with the pain whilst I get in and out of my suit.
Where did anyone say that you had to cut your hair?

I had long hair when I started to dive in 1991. But as I progressed up the ladder (I am now an IDC Staff Instructor) and devoted more time to diving, sailing, mtn biking, etc., I just found it suited my lifestyle more to have short hair. Esp with all the damage pools, sun, and suit changes were doing to my "long locks".

So I cut it in 1995. And have had it short ever since.

IOW, it's a personal decision. No one is "trying to convince anyone" one way or the other! :geez:

Sure we can't 'twist' your hair to change your mind??

This has been causing me pain recently too - I hate literally pulling my hair out everytime I take my suit off. I might try getting a spandex hood, but my neoprene hood is really snug, I'm not sure even an spandex hood will fit under there. I'll try putting talc down the neck while it's still on just before I try taking it off.

Umm.. you only use the spandex hood (or swimsuit cap or whatever) to help you put on or take off the suit. IOW, put it on, put on suit. Take it off.

Ditto for taking off the suit.

Why would you leave it on?

I leave mine on. It's so thin, I can barely feel it.

And Submariner, I was joking about the haircut thing!

In the Pacific Northwest you are considered slightly nuts if you don't wear a dry suit & I have one with latex seals. I hear your pain about the hair tangling as I have long curly hair that really sticks. One of the other female divers here told me to put leave-in hair conditioner on my hair before I leave the house to go diving & your seal will slip right over your head. In addition, it does a lovely job of conditioning your hair! I find it even works if I braid my hair (so it fits under my neoprene hood) & then put conditioner on top.

Interesting idea. And it makes perfect sense.

Good info, NS! :)
