I just replaced my gloves with a tool I made from the instructions in Ken's post. I did make a few minor deviations from the original though.

I used an end cap for ABS pipe, but it was for 4" ABS pipe, not 4.5". To help with the groove for holding the O-ring the first thing I did was to drill a hole in the center of the end cap and then put a bolt in the hole and chuck it up in my hand drill. The thing looked like some sort of huge hole saw but without teeth. when I powered up the drill I simply held a file against the ABS cap where I wanted the groove. I held the file still while the cap turned, in just a few moments I had a nice even groove. Then I cut the 3/4 or so inch end off the cap and voila, My tool was all but finished, one more cut across the tool so I could compress it and some work with a small hand file and I was ready to roll.

I chose to put the blue gloves without liners on since I can change glove liners just like I change thickness of my other undergarments.

Holy crap! expanding the tool with the O-ring in the glove is not easy, one bleeding cuticle, and some extremely colorful language later the stinking thing is ready. This is certainly a lot cheaper than buying new gloves from the LDS with the rings in place.

Does any one have an old torn pair of Dive Concepts gloves they want to give away? :)

I purchased the Diving Concepts dry gloves with snap on/off cuff ring. Absolutely the best decision ever! Never, ever leaks. Truly snaps on and off easily, without help.

I know lots of divers using the sci-tech system w/screw on cuff : they often experience leaks and are definitely more difficult to put on or take off...

Only Diving Concepts for me !

Damn, and I just do it by hand without tools, takes about 90 seconds a glove.

1) Fold o-ring into glove
2) Pull glove/o-ring around glove docking ring
3) Snap on rubber clover thingggy

Diving Concept Gloves.

Simple to install (we installed the last pair on my buddy's suit in about 9 minutes in the parking lot of the dive site... a complete no brainer), easy to don and doff (snap on and off... no wacky twist seal stuff), blue gloves are easy to change out, smallest bracelets, etc. Simply the best designed dry gloves available.

$140 delivered from www.COVCI.com. Can't beat it. Replacement smurfs are $17 from Seattle Marine. I prefer the 495's with removable liners. Make a DC Glove Tool from PVC pipe and you can replace your gloves on the glove rings by yourself in 8 minutes.

You may find them on eBay for $80, or a couple of pairs on TDS for $75... but I just get lucky that way... :D

Love 'em!

Hi there,

I have never used drygloves before, and I was wondering, with the Diving Concepts gloves do you HAVE to use the gloves on every dive then, or does the suit still seal to your wrists without the gloves attached? Also, if my wrist seals now are the right size, will adding the ring system stretch the seals to the point that they might be too loose, or not seal adequately?
Thanks

You do not need to use the gloves on every dive. the ring assembly stuff is up near where the seals attach to the arm of the suit. In my case the wrist end of the seal is far enough away from the ring assembly that there is no effect on the part of the seal that keeps the water out.
