Jody, learn how to do a manual white balance and you will not need the red filter.

Thanks PF, have already messed around with the white balance but will definately give it much more focus and practice

Being able to set the white balance will help, but it won't completely make up for the colours lost due to filtration in the water. A good wide angle lens will help a lot - if you can manage the vignetting. Personally, I don't think anything can beat having a strobe for shooting critters.

Using the FT2 inside the Panasonic housing will let you play with a good small strobe (Inon s2000 for example) and let you get some really cool pics. On the other hand, getting a small video light and primarily shooting video with the odd pic will probably let you capture your memories a whole lot easier.
