Being from Florida, all of our dives are drift dives. 2nd time to Cozumel we were drifting the San Francisco wall, hovering and looking, since you are basically motionless and flying along.

We got to a point in the wall where we hit a down draft. My buddy was about close by and we both looked straight up like something was falling on us. I knew that it was a down draft and we both got away from the reef and swam out about 50 feet from the reef. As we hung there in mid water, you could see the reef vegitation getting lightly pushed around. It wasn't violent like stuff breaking off and headed tumbling for the deep. Actually it was very mild.

It's not scary at all, just swim out of the downward drift, similar to hiding behind a rock/wreck to take a break from the current.
