We still have a spot open for the following:

Come dive "Death's Door" with the Chicago Scuba Meetup Group! This will be a unique opportunity to dive the famous shipwrecks found at the north end of the Door County peninsula in Wisconsin. Here are a few of the shipwrecks we could be diving:

1 Steamer Frank O'Connor, built 1897, sank 1919 off Cana Island, depth 65'. Upright with huge steam engine, boilers, anchors, and 12' propeller.
2 Pilot Island wreck sites. Several schooners from the late 1800's, depths 20' to 45'. Three wrecks here all touch each other.
3 Roen barge and crane. Intact, sank 1956 in high seas off Poverty Island, depth 110".
4 Large schooner near Poverty Island lighthouse. Possible Erastus Corning. Depth 30' to 65'.
5 Steamer C.C. Hand. Built 1890, sank 1913 off Summer Island. Large steamer in only 20' with 12' propeller. Lots to see.
6 Schooner E. R. Williams. Intact schooner with anchors, windlass, bowsprit, etc. Masts lying across deck, depth 105'. Built 1873, sank 1895 north of Saint Martin Island.
7 Steamer Louisiana. Built 1887, sank in the great storm of 1913 on north side of Washington Island. Depth 1' to 25'.
8 Steamer R. J. Hackett. Built 1869, sank 1905 on Whaleback Shoal, depth 5' to 20'.
9 Schooner Meridian. Built 1848, sank 1873 on Sister Islands, depth 20' to 40'.
10 Schooner Carrington. Built 1853, sank 1870 off Hat Island, depth 25' to 60'.

We will be staying at the Shoreline Resort in Gills Rock and be diving with Dive Diva Charters, which operates out of Shoreline's marina. We will be arriving Friday, June 8th, dive a three tank dive on Saturday and a two tank dive Sunday morning. You will need to bring all your own equipment, including THREE tanks if you plan on doing all the planned dives. Bring full tanks for the first day dives. Re-fills for Sunday is a 20 minute drive from the marina.

We have a limit of 6 divers, but other people are welcome to stay with us at the resort. I will have 2 rooms reserved for our use. I expect these rooms to be shared, so if you wish your own room, you will need to make arrangements yourself with the resort.

The fee for this includes $190 for the 5 dives and $84 for lodging for the weekend. This assumes that there will be at least 2 divers per room. If more or fewer people use the rooms, we will adjust that as the time approaches.

I am asking that anyone who signs up for this trip have an Advanced Open Water certification. I would also recommend that you have some Great Lakes or similar diving experience. Visibility and lake conditions are always changing and we can expect current.

I am asking that payment for this be made by check. Email me on how to make payment and any questions you might have about the trip.

Since we will be diving relatively early in the season, water temps might be a bit nippy, but visibility could be at its best. This is a great opportunity to visit scenic Door County to explore some fine shipwrecks a little off the beaten path of your standard Chicago/Milwaukee fare.
