Good for you! Glad you decided to take the plunge. Just keep in mind that, while dive gear can be quite costly, it'll be an investment that will last you for years. Around here, after you buy your gear, you can get a day of diving for around $50 on a boat, or about $40 from the shore(with a guide) or about $12 if youjust need 3 tank fills for the day. My point is, while it certainly is not cheap, after the initial investments, diving is pretty manageable. Just do your research. Scour the forums for any info on possible gear, rent/borrow various gear until you get a feel for what you like/dislike. As long as you go with what makes you feel comfortable, you can't go wrong.
