Ok, I've been lurking here for quite a while. I'm in the market for a new BC and have decided to go with the bp/w and a hog (cheap) harness. As said before, you can always spend more money later.

The question I have is in the "difficulty" of donning with this configuration. My dry rings are bulky. Also the new bc will be initially heavier than my integrated bc is before the weight pouches are installed. I dive 80 steel and 19 pony.

How do people handle donning the pack? Currently I can either overhead (without weights installed) or sit back into my bc. The rings do make donning a pain due to their bulk but I won't give up their warmth (I'm weak, but I'm warm and weak :D).

Also, please correct my interpretation of the hog harness adjustment and stability: It appears to me that you have multiple "mild" opposing forces to keep the bp in place rather than cinching down several girths really tight. What I'm looking for is increased range of motion and decreased clutter.

Thanks in advance.

Virtually everybody I dive with uses a drysuit and dry gloves and a BP&W with a Hogathian harness.

Somehow we all manage.;)

Donning is not that big a deal. It does require a little practice. Occasionally it requires team mates help each other. (What a concept!)

I face my rig and first connect the drysuit inflation hose, then rotate to place my left hand through the left shoulder strap. That gets your hand, gauges, and exhaust valve through.

The right hand can be more of a challenge, but pay attention to what is actually hanging up, like your bottom timer, and you can develop a method that works.
