There was a better article in SCUBA Diving in 2002 or 2003, but I can't find it on the website. Might try the library.

Been to the DR once and diving was not that great. Won't be going back.

The diving I did in Puerto Plata was pretty poor.

The resort was nice, but the quality of the food in the buffet went from horrible on Saturday to good on Sunday and then gradually back down to horrible as the week went on. Something tells me the buffet food was being re-used.

I'm not sure what the name of the resort was. It was a few years ago. The dive op was Dressel. They gave me a t-shirt with their name on it which is why I remember them. I don't have proof of what they do with the buffet, but it was definitely suspicious.

I believe Dressel Divers is the house op for the Iberostar Resorts.

Thanks for posting those links. We're going to Cabarete, DR at Thanksgiving and I'm having a heck of a time finding any diving reports. I know it's not a popular dive destination and we're going there for other things as well, but *someone* must dive there!

yes dressel divers is out of the iberostar in puerto plata.... stayed there last november and found the same about the food and the dive masters a little pushy. PM me for more info.

We went through Scuba Caribae in Punta Cana, The DiveMasters were good to work with and the diving wasn't too terrible, better than the 10'-15' vis we have at home. We were there on vacation and decided to dive, and as they say" a poor day diving is better than a good day at work". Would I go there for a Dive vacation----probably not.
