I'm looking for an easy route to DR a) without breaking the bank and b) can get us (2 ppl) there in 1/2 a day. I'm leaving from Houston and am in need of suggestions....

Thanks!!

Depends what airport you want to fly to. There are 5 major airports, Santo Domingo - Las Americas, La Romana, Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and Santiago. I have a link to the airports that will show you which airlines go to the first 3 named above. Sometimes you can find a great rates (70 USD each way) from JFK airports with JetsBlue to Santiago or Santo Domingo.

We booked a trip with bookit.com it was air and all inclusive hotel( 4 star resort) for five nights, under $600. We are going to be staying in La Ramana this trip. Last year we stayed in Punta Cana for a wedding diving was good but much better around Katalina island.

We are coming in from Chicago, Illinois, USA. We will be staying at the Oasis in La Romana.

Thank you for the offer. As of yet I haven't yet been able to to find out about the dive shop that is located at the resort. We have started doing a little bit or research on the the dive sites in the area to attempt to narrow down the locations we would like to dive. I did visit your website last night and was able to get a couple of ideas.
We are hoping the resort is nice and offers the non divers traveling with us plenty to do.

With the dive shops you will have to go to dive sites they go, based on the level of the other divers too. They plan usually schedule the days for certain dive sites and you have a choice to go or not. Not all dive shops got to all dives sites that are on our map.
The dive op at the resort used to be SeaPro, I am not sure if they are still there or not. The resort is nice, we had many clients from there as they didn't like to dive with any resort dive shop
