He's a great DM for starters, but those are everywhere in Coz. He told me how long he has been a DM a few years ago and I have since forgotten the number, but I would say he is one of the longest active DM's on the island.

Now for some fun....
When he starts a dive with 500 psi, he comes up with a full tank!
Sharks are afraid he will bite them
He was on the C-53 when it sunk and carried all the passenger to land on his back...at once...
The currents ask him which way to flow
He taught Chuck Norris everything he knows
Even Donald Trump likes him

Any good PADI dive ops in Cozumel? Only one... Tres Pelicanos. Actually, there are many not only good but great dive ops in Cozumel. I'd first decide on where you are going to be saying and then select a dive op that is most convenient for you. I prefer to stay in town on more of a budget and after 14 (or 15?) years of staying in town and diving Cozumel I found Tres Pelicanos 3 years ago and personally find them to offer boutique diving/service without the boutique price.

I say you may as well start where you'll eventually end up and Tres Pelicanos is one of the dive ops many seem to have "ended up" with. However, there are others equally popular and they will all get mentioned. Again, book accommodations NOW if you haven't and and start looking to book your cert dives ASAP with the dive op of your choice as you'll be arriving and diving in PEAK PEAK PEAK season.

I am a novice here. I've done my eLearning, finished that today with the exam.
I was supposed to go to Guadeloupe to do these dives during my fiancée's vacation time, but as it is also the school vacation time in mainland France, it's turning out to be impossible to find any sort of decent lodging options. This is for 7 days in early January. I am now looking at Cozumel since lodging options are far more numerous, and at a much lower price point.

I am wondering if anyone knows of any good PADI operators in Cozumel, with whom I can do my dives, both confined and open water.

And if not, is there another place you'd recommend going during this time?
Thanks!

Hello,

I'd like to offer Salty Endeavors as an option (contact links in my signature). We have 3 on-staff instructors which combine for over 2000 certified students and 20,000 logged dives. We also offer very affordable housing options. Let me know if we can be of service.

To a new diver, most likely, you will be happy with whoever you dive with.

"I" would suggest going with the on site operator, wherever you end up staying. These tend to be the big guys, but there are advantages. Bonding with and hanging out with the on site staff can be quite rewarding / fun for a new diver. If you stay at a place like Blue Angel or Hotel Cozumel, you end up having nice easy shore dives. These are easy and as you are a known entity to the staff, they will make sound recommendations on diving the shore, based on how you are doing on your other dives.
