Dehydration
The author of the article did state that having something to drink before a dive will increase the inert nitrogen load, supposedly because there is more fluid in which to dissolve the nitrogen itself. In actuality, this is not all that important as it is only the nitrogen that is dissolved in [supposedly] tendon and ligament tissue, or nerve tissue, that will result in DCS.
