Hi,

Just took a small step for the dive industry, and a giant stride for a diver - bought a Halcyon Pioneer setup (woohoo). It's occured to me that my BC inflator hose on my reg is the one that came with my SeaQuest Pro QD - and I think I heard somewhere that SeaQuest have a proprietary inflator hose connector. Does this mean I have to get a new inflator hose? I can't test it out personally because my Halcyon gear is still being delivered. Anyone got both a SeaQuest BC and a Halcyon wing that wants to see if they're compatable for me???

Ben

As far as I know only the Scubapro Air II and the TUSA Duo-Air have different connections than a normal BC.

I'm not sure, but I think my Pioneer came with an LP hose. You need a much shorter LP inflator hose than normal because the Halcyon wings have much shorter corrugated hoses than typical BCs.

The TUSA DuoAir does have a different connector than the other power inflators on the market.

Like Roakey there, I'd use the LP inflator hose that came with the wing. Switching it out on your first stage is not difficult. If you need help, let us know.

Your Halcyon will come with its own power inflator hose.
So just switch it on your first stage and your all set.

Congrats on the Halcyon, best rig i'v ever worn.

Just want to offer my congrats also on the choice. For me anyway it was practically a religious experience (and def a sense of awe) at the difference between it and the other bcs. I have a picture here of me in the rig, and you cannot see the bp/wing from the front at all, major streamlining!

And you will also notice that the Halcyon wing hose is not a foot too long and sticking out everywhere, looking for things to grab onto. It is as long as it needs to be.

Next you need to get the hose kit. The 7' first stage and 22" pressure guage will change your thinking also.

Already looking at a 5' or 6' hose (I have a Pioneer wing, no light canister). I think the 5' hose might be a tad short for me because of my build. Will have to try it and see. 7' just seems excessive for a single tank, non-overhead diving (don't plan on doubles for a while and I'd be buying new regs then anyway).

One thing I really like about the DIR system is that the gear you buy today for your first OW dive, is just as relevant on the 300' wreck dive a few years from now. Maybe we will, maybe we won't, but it sure is nice knowing the equipment will. Anyway, the 7' hose can be wrapped around the knife holder on the left with no problem. Why buy 2 hoses? You probably already are, but if you go with that setup you want the backup on the necklace also.

I just got some pockets to glue on my wetsuit, I had the Halcyon pocket that goes on the belt but it felt so cumbersome compared to the rest of the setup. It was also just as hard to get stuff out of as any other bc with pockets toward the back. Following the thinking, if I did get a canister light (like if I run across an extra 500 clams, not) then I would have to put the pocket somewhere else, which does not make sense.

A lot of the dir stuff that people complain about being too picky, makes sense down the road in other types of diving or just different environments.

That's prob more than you want, just got home from work...
