I recently acquired a load of older scuba gear, that included among other things a Dacor Olympic first stage, a Dacor Olympic 400 second stage, and a ScubaPro Octopus. I hate to just let this stuff lay around, if the possibility exists to get it working again. I have had several double hose regulators rebuilt, but can't find anyone with the capability to rebuild these. I know Dacor isn't around anymore, but hope to maybe find an old shop with parts still in stock.

I know Bryan does a great job with Double Hose Regs, but I don't think that he works on any single hose regs. That is what I would like to get rebuilt.

Any good dive shop should be able to rebuild both the Scubapro and that Dacor 400.

Parts for the Scubapro are generally compatible with some of the modern Scubapro, therefore finding normally replaceable parts should not be a problem. Metal parts are another issue.

The Dacor 400 second stage uses a fairly generic seat, but I can't remember how the first stage seat looks. The Dacor 400 was a great regulator. Even one of my LDS serviced a couple of Dacor 400 last year. I explained to them how to adjust the second stage and whatever else I could remember.

I have heard of a couple of on line repair shops that will tackle most single hose regulators. I think one is SC, but I am not sure.

There is also a fellow that used to work for Dacor that has a lot of parts. Some call him Dacor Jerry and you may be able to find some contact information over at VDH or VSS.

One of the most fun things about owning vintage Scuba gear is learning how to service it yourself. When you see the simplicity and clever design of some vintage regulators you will really appreciate working on it, assuming you have the mechanical inclination and interest.

There is a growing on line community of DIY divers servicing vintage regulators (both double and single hose), that would be wiling to help you get started.

Good luck and have fun

As Luis points out older SP regs are easy to get serviced and most soft parts are still available and/or the same as their current regs. Hard parts are not impossible as thereir are still many of the older regs floating around that are potential parts donors.

I may or may not have access to a Dacor 400 parts kit - I can check this weekend and if so, you could send them both to Divers Den in Baltimore for service.

The Dacor Olympic 400 was a great reg. I have a few and still dive them on occasion. I have a Dacor Olympic 400 Polar that I use on my pony. While I don't have parts I do have the manual that covers the Olympic series. I have it on CD. PM me and I'll send you a copy if you like.

That is exactly what Steve suggested, before he realized this is a single hose thread.
