I am curious if any of the businesses that support and engage with the ScubaBoard divers offer and/or participate in online affiliate marketing? We have developed a commission program for YourBagTag products and we would like to learn from others that may have already been down this path.

Here is what we are thinking, and we would love to get input/insight from others...

  • We would provide a set of links/graphics/or ads in standard sizes that would allow any org to integrate into their website.
  • Affiliates can choose all or specific products to highlight/offer on their site.
  • YourBagTag.com would offer 2 levels of commissions - one @ 8% of net sale, one @ 10% of net sale (minus tax, discount, shipping). 10% rate would kick in once the affiliate had referred at least $1,000 in sales.
  • Physical locations (dive shops, resorts, etc.) would receive physical samples to help make in-store recommendations/referrals.
  • We would have an affiliate directory with direct links back to their websites for search engine optimization benefit.?
  • Real-time reporting of current affiliate sales/commissions earned.
  • We would also share email/customer data back to referring affiliate. So for example, if YourBagTag.com got a referral sale from DJ's Scuba Locker, we would send that customers contact data back to DJ's Scuba.

Our average order is just over $60.00 so at the 8% rate, the affiliate commission would be $4.80 for that sale, Just over $6.00 if at the higher rate. Would this make it worth your time to set up on your site(s)?

What have we overlooked? I know that the commission/margin rate is lower but then there is no outlay on the affiliates part to buy/sell/service.
