We found this little guy on our last trip to Bonaire in June. I think it's a juvenile Scorpion fish but I can't find a picture of a juvenile in any of the books I have. What do you guys and gals think? Thanks.

Looks like Scorpaena Calcarata. "Smooth head scorpionfish". That's my best guess. I once had a juvenile in a tank. In one picture, the pectoral fin resembles that of a frog fish. Very nice find and great pictures!

Nice captures.
I found one last September and tried to determine what it was.
A juvenile Scorpion Fish was my best guess also.

Here's the one I found.
It's out of focus but obviously the same.

Hi Guys,

Had Renee from Renee Snorkel look at these pictures. The first one is indeed a juvenile mushroom scorpion and the second is the (thumbnail) is juvenile spotted scorpionfish.

Hope that helps.

Liz

Thanks! I knew it was some kind of scorpion fish but I couldn't figure out which one.
