You might have mentioned that its for the USNavy's Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center.

Maybe 35 years ago it might have interested me. Now when I say "Do you want to dive a wreck?" everyone on the boat thinks I'm talking about myself.

I was thinking the same thing - it's probably a good thing that I didn't know about that program when I was 20.

Well I"m only 30 but it interested me as well. So much so that I read MILPERSMAN 1220-130 and then DSNd my way down to NAVPERSCOM to inquire on the nearest "appropriate screening activity." (APPSCRNACT) Where the NCOICOTD explained it turns out the nearest to me here in Navy Region Midwest (NAVREGMW, NAVFOR=CFFC, 6=CONUS,) was colocated with the Great Lakes Naval Training Command, at NTCGL/NSGL.

I spoke to several people at NTCGL, notably the SDO at the SP HQ, the XO of NAVHOSPCORPS school, and finally the OIC of the APPSCRNACT who seemed very enthusiastic that I had followed through the numerous links, MILPERS and DoD/DoN forms that were required of me to provide him with my completed application, and that my civilian diving background would play strongly in my favor and odds of being accepted - for the program in time to get me orders cut for the class beginning in Sept (ass #200409076-09873564537687980877-C). So I faxed the whole kit over to him a few moments ago and have just confirmed by phone it's nearlly a done deal now. It reminds me of one time when I was trying to get to KY on my way back from Korea while I was in the USA (Us Army ya), I actually got to talk with my branch rep at the pentagon to work that deal.

So now I've provided him both my contact numbers and an e-mail address that I check regularly. I'm not sure if I should expect to hear back or not when said OIC discovers that while I did not exaggerate one iota while discussing my diving experience, I did neglect to mention that I am not, nor have ever been in the Navy. :eyebrow:
