I have usually have a few beers after diving. It would be pretty stupid to drink before a dive if you have any knowledge of dcs. I'd doubt it if many divers drink before but I'm sure there are a few cowboys out there who do.

...at the end of the day's dive, head to the nearest bar for rehydration. A lot of diving I do is inland in hilly areas and chilling out for a bit helps defizz before travelling over a mountain pass. The short term rehydration afforded by a weak beer beats the long term dehydration of the alcohol.
