Do I NEED the drysuit class?

The card shouldn't mean all that much. You can dive a dry suit without a class. Hell, I dove for years without any class (didn't know you needed one). You can teach yourself anything. However, a good instructor can make the learning curve easier and maybe safer. Nobody has ever taken my drysuit class and said they thought it was a waist of money.
 
Hey, all. Thanks for all the great advice. I just got my drysuit and I can't wait to start learning how to dive it.

I bought a lightly used O'Neil neoprene drysuit on eBay for $150 and it looks like it is in great condition. I know it isn't the best suit available, but the price is right and the water here in Northern California will definitely make the added insulation useful.
