I'm hoping to head to C. america in July/August to do a DM internship.
Does anybody have any recommendations for Belize/Honduras?
Hoping to avoid doing it in Mexico is posssible.
Thanks!

Welcome (Scub)aBoard! :happywave

it’s about time you surfaced here! :)

Click [thread=91105]here[/thread] for ScubaBoard 101: [thread=91105]A beginner's guide to the ScubaBoard.Com forums[/thread].

Don’t forget to fill out your Public Profile (and Dive Info) on one of your next surface intervals so we can get to know you a little bit better. Besides, it will make it easier for us to answer your questions. If you’re not in a particularly creative mood, you can have a look at my Public Profile for inspiration.

How about Utila?

Any other questions? Just click this link: Send me a PM!

I studied spanish in school for a bit but I've forgotten alot since then.
Hoping that i'll pick it up again when I'm away.
This trip is partly about learning spanish to a proper level but its going to take time.
I know Belize is English speaking so honduras might me a better option..

Welcome to the board!

To me, this is the best deal going.

Subway is a great group of people and the diving in Roatan ROCKS!
I was not real impressed with Belize but fell in love with Roatan.

Another source would be Anthony's Key in Roatan or Utila

Consider doing a Spanish course seperately, either before or after your internship. In Guatemala, I had a great experience by going ot a Spanish-language school ($125 per week for 5 hours a day of one on one instruction and room and board with a local family), then later getting a hotel room ($20 per seek) and hiring a private tutor to come to my room ($2 per hour). You would be amazed at how much you learn in just a few weeks using this one on one method. You could combine a trip to Xela, Guatemala (or Esteli, Nicaragua) with your central american internship trip. But understand that you will not speak much Spanish in the Bay Islands. PM me if I can help with details.
