Hey everyone,
I'm looking at doing a DM internship, not sure yet where i want to do it but at the moment i am leaning towards somewhere in the Carribbean maybe Utila or Roatan? (if anyone has done theirs there recently, please speak up about it!!)
The actual cost of the internship i'm not too worried about, but the cost of living is a different story so somewhere cheap to live would be preferable. Mainly because i doubt i will be able to work in any country that i choose to do it in (apart from Australia). Also once i start it, time constraints arent really going to be an issue, only running out of money will be!!!
As most of you have pointed out already, its the quality of the instructor that really makes 1. a great experience. 2. You into a great DM/Instructor.
Some of the advice i have gotten so far has been along the lines of "visit the dive store, see if you like what you see and gauge the attitude of the instructors". I live in Sydney (AUS), so getting to the dive stores for a bit of a recon isn't really feasible, so i have been trying to do as much research as i can on the net and have emailed a few to get some more feedback.
I really want to go all the way through and get my instructors certification but doing the DM is the first step so i will just go from there. If anyone has any advice on a good dive centre around the Carribbean or could recommend a couple to look into, i would really appreciate it.
