Note that the aluminum is a minus (I'd prefer steel), but its cheap and machinable. I put a few more holes in mine for adding different lights and snap bolts. Even had the lineup of the holes so that the light pointed right by about 10 degrees (I use it on my left hand, so having it semi-centered is nice).

Dang, that's not bad for the price.... I would replace the allen bolt ASAP though.... Nothing against Allen Head, but I'm guessing that they're not SS, regardless of the what the description says (or doesn't say).... better safe than sorry.

Personally, I plan on using one of the 3d plans (or combining attributes of both) and using SS cap-head allen screws, with (hopefully) the DGX Scalloped derlin thumb-bolts. Winner winner chicken dinner!

No urgent need whatsoever, but curious:

What would be the most practical approach for someone not using a can-light for using light/s on hard Goodman handle in regards to a first spare and a third possibly a third, real, pure shtf spare?
- mount 1 light on the handle and clip two to shoulder straps (or clip one to shoulder and one into pocket)?
- mount 2 lights (one clip?) on one handle and keep one off as spare/burn time extender and have a third non handled light clip on the shoulder in case all goes wrong with the handle mounted ones?
I sort of like that approach as switching that second light on would be quick and easy, but, with the lights I have (DRIS stubby 1k or such (3xAA)) that makes for a heavy handle, but would fit. (A third light would not unless it's skinny)
- bring two handle mounted lights? (and an unmounted third)
- Bring one GM handle and buy the base and expensive quick release thingamajigs (Dive Rite ?)for 3 lights? Are they as reliable as hard mounted?
- ???

You can do something like this

But I would say, carry a primary on a handle, and two backups.

Or you might want to have a go pro style mount? Or even a garmin like mount that's used on mountain bikes.

Have 3 different mounts on each of the lights, and just attach them and detach them

Yeah, considered, but my (somewhat longer burn time) lights are too fat to mount three in a row. Leaning towards 1 on handle and two unmounted spares to keep things /independent) but looking for input / opinion / reason. Thanks for yours.

True!! But then again, dannnng that's a lot of batteries to charge in a Philippine hotel room with one or two outlets..... :rofl3:

But in all seriousness, yes, that's really really cool. And I do believe that it's appropriate for some divers out there. Talk about instant backup! It's neat.

The GoPro mount, mentioned by @drakcheslav could be an interesting idea too....

this mechanism would work better. It's sturdy enough to keep a GPS unit in a MTB race. It's strong enough to keep a light.

And it's easer to mount, since it's a twist off, compared to the go pro mount.

I'm just rec diver for now, so take what I do with that idea in mind.

I have the light mounted to the GM handle, and 1 backup on my webbing in the normal place. If (and that's a strong if) I remember to charge my batteries the night before diving, they're good all day (2-3 dives). Even if I had 2 backups I think it would be cumbersome to have either on another GM handle.

I do have everything in place to have another light on the webbing, but very rarely do I even need to switch to my backup (I don't run the light full bright either for the most part), but at least it's there.

To answer your question would really depend on the diving you're doing though? It would be way different for caves or wreck.

I think the Garmin Mount that @drakcheslav posted looks pretty cool. But personally, I intend to simply clip off a backup light to harness, with no GM handle on it... I think the GM handle is great on the primary light, but if it fails, I'll just switch to handheld for the backup....

The Alien light (with 3 torches) looks pretty cool, and might be the right tool for some people. I just don't see any need for my diving.... It looks pretty heavy and cumbersome...
