Wow, it seems like water would be able to sneak past the oring on the body, up the side and in between the glass and maglite. Am I brave enough to try this? dunno :)

The original o-ring Maglite put on the body (the o-ring the bezel goes over) is perfect and does not allow water go get through. As for the bezel o-ring, I used something more substantial. The original one did not appear it would seal the glass and the bezel for long. But to answer your question, water will not sneak past the body o-ring when the bezel is screwed on (at least it did not in mine).

Actually - that leads me to my next question.. where did you get your o-rings?

Thanks
Jeff

Personally I source O rings from either McMaster Carr or Fastenal (see links below).

I prefer to buy O ring cord (NBR or EPDM material is fine)and fabricate the rings to the correct diameter using cyanoacrylate adhesive (aka superglue). This is common engineering practice.

Of course you can buy premade O rings of the correct diameter, but IMO it's more expensive and harder to source.

If you are looking for lenses and Cheep.. 3mm thick.. talk to your local stain glass store.. it's not tempered, but it doesn't have to be because of the small surface area. They can cut pretty well any size you request.
