Diving with Decongestion medicine?

If you want to stay away from the "pharmaceutical" stuff you might want to try one of the saline-based nasal sprays. You have to use them daily to keep sinus/congestion problems in check. You can make a salt-water solution at home too, but it seems easier to just buy the one that comes in a spray bottle.

Or you can just grow a moustache, get some water into your mask, then dive inverted --- works for me!

Seriously, your suggestion is good one because the sea water that gets up into my nasal passages during the 1st dive really does clear up everything for the 2nd dive.

Any thoughts on Claritin-D? I usually use the 24-hour formula and it does not make me drowsy in the least. My allergies have been really bad lately, so sometimes it is a necessity.
 
Given the absence of any drowsiness during topside use, the considerations discussed above regarding Sudafed would also apply to Claritin-D.
