any experienced divers going diving weekdays next week???

We are a couple (Advanced cert.) from Montreal thinking of diving your lovely shores next week. Used to diving warmer waters (CARIB) or the St Lawrences/1000 Islands area. Dove in BC last summer. Would enjoy company/guidance. Are there any clubs/individuals diving that week? Any recommended places for refills? ANy b & bs that are diver gear friendly? thanks!

Where exactly, are you coming to???

New England is a big place...

Gloucester / Rockport area???

Boston area???

Cape COd???

RI???

CT???

NH???

ME???

Let us know where you are goin g to, and we can then help you out a little better...

Thank you for your response! We haven't decided yet! I was thinking that Nubble Light/York Beach area sounds good, but so does RI (and my alma mater RISD is there). Anyhow, if you have particular favourites, please do share. This way, when y'all come North to dive wrecks in Freshwater, we can be your guide buddies!

I will be one of the coordinators for this weekends Metro West Dive Club's Date@8. If you decide you want to do a shore dive in Cape Ann, MA meet us at the Burger King rest-stop just past exit 19 on 128 north just before 8am this Saturday. :)

thank you so much Element for your reply. How far is Cape Ann from York, Maine, for example? What is the closest big town? We'd like to try the diving around Nubble Point during our week off. If the driving isn't prohibitive (eg, start in Cape Ann and then go to Maine, may be we can do both) Is there a diver friendly place to stay the night around there? thanks again.

Cape Ann is about an hour's drive from Nubble. You could easily do 2 dives in the AM on Cape Ann, and then conclude with a dusk/night dive or two at Nubble. Are you looking for a place near Cape Ann or in York? I don't know of any B&Bs in the area, but there's a Comfort Inn, I think, that's fairly close to Nubble, right on Rt.1. I stayed there once when I had to be on the boat in NH really early in the AM.

If you are looking for dive shops in southern mass and rhode island there are many: Scuba Center (Attleboro, Ma), Narragansett Pier Dive Shop (RI), Newport Diving (RI). As well there are sites beyond belief in RI alone: Newport, Jamestown, Narragansett, Block Island, Pt.Judith, Warwick, Prudence Island, etc. Also to be noted there are probrally as many wrecks in and around RI as there are in the Bermuda Triangle (no kidding) - including a German Submarine just off the coast of Pt.Judith and Block Island. If you are interested as well there are organized dives done during the week and especially on the weekend at Narragansett Pier Dive Shop (www.pierdive.com) and with the Scuba Center (Southern Mass - Attleboro area). If I can be of any further help please feel free to email me and possibly we could meet up for a dive or 2. Good Luck.

I want to thank you who have been so helpful in responding! My partner found a very useful site which you all probably know about, but in case you don't, it describes virtually every divesite in N.E. and how to get there:

Now we just need to line up a few weekday buddies: we are able to dive Sunday through Wed, may be an early one Thursday before we drive home! Keep me posted! thanks, Kimberly

If you are interested in diving myself and my buddy will be diving Sunday and Monday (A holiday in R.I. - VJ Day) let me know my email is scubaprince@aol.com. And if you need I could check to see if there are any organized dives during the next few days for you to get in on. Good Luck
