Diving watches

Hello. I got infatuated with scuba diving a couple of months. Still fresh (60 dives, Master diver, Deep diving and Science of Diving certified,...). I am also a big fan of watches and collect them. I have never been interested in Rolex. Too bulky or over rated for me. I buy things that I like not because I can resell them.
Now, for me, there is no real added value in having a diving watch compared to a diving computer. Even less when you wear two diving computers. Am I wrong? Then, the real question of this thread: is it worth buying a Rolex Submariner, the self called ultimate diver watch?

Yes, I have a few "dive watches" - Telux, Momentum, Citizen. I like "dive watches" for everyday wear. No interest in the high dollar watches. Not my thing.

So no value added, really. James Cameron videos almost convinced me.

I like watches, too, but not enough to be a collector. But if I was wealthy and wanted to show it, I would buy a Rolex. However, as I am now retired and have a modest lifestyle, I balance big ticket luxury items against the cost of overseas travel.

If you want to buy a dive watch then buy one. But its really nothing to do with Scuba. The only dive watch I really wear underwater is my Sinn UX.

I’m the only male in my family that doesn’t own at least one Rolex (each has a Submariner). If I’m going to spend $7,000+ on a hobby... it’s going to have two or more wheels. Ex. Motorcycle, Jeep, etc. I can’t wrap my head around spending that kind of money on a watch, but that’s just my two cents.

For the money...you can’t beat a Citizen Eco-Drive.

The Rolex Submariner used to be a tool watch. The modern Submariner is a luxury watch.

From a functional standpoint, there is literally nothing that it can do better than a Citizen Eco-Drive.

You want one? Go buy it. Justify the purchase to yourself however you need to.
