Hi. I want to do 2x 30 minute 12m dives. 30 minute SI then 1.5hr journey back to land. Then drive to hotel at 2600ft.

There are tables such as NOAA and BSAC that say this is ok. there are also PADI / DAN rules that blanket 12hr or 24hrs regardless.

What are your thoughts?

No issue. Just think of it as doing those two dives at 2600 ft; they would be altitude dives and the 40-ft depth would be treated as a 50-ft depth. So you do two 50-ft dives at 30-mins each, 30 mins between, no problem even on the PADI tables. then you drive to 2600 ft, but your N2 on-gassing/off-gassing is already primed for 2600 ft. No issue.

I don't want to teach you Altitude Diving on the internet, but my point is you are not in jeopardy with the profiles you describe. Other profiles may be problematic.

Your dive profiles do sound as if you should be fine. However, about 10 years ago we had an instructor here who did several very safe, shallow training dives with her students, then drove to her boyfriend's with maximum elevation gain of 1,600 ft. She got bent.
