Ok, so I got curious and went to look up wind averages in South Caicos. Looks like Sept-Oct and Apr-May are the two periods with the lightest winds, and July is the windiest month. Looks like in any given month, you can expect at least 15 days of 17+ mph wind speeds.

Hilarious. We were there in October and they may as well have hosted kiteflying and Hobie Cat tournaments there it was so windy.

Still no dive opertors on South Caicos. Such a shame.

Is the Marriott transmogrification complete yet? I'm not surprised there are no dive operators. You need guests and decent diving. They certainly don't have the latter. The guests are definitely not coming to dive.

Considering the prices at the Salterra/Marriot I don't know who would be going, when i used to go there in the East Bay resort days I thought Sail Rock was expensive.

Yeah, they are done and now call it "Salterra". As said above, their prices are ridiculous. They claim to offer diving, but I have no idea if that is in-house or a separate contractor. They did fix the flight access issues with direct flights to South Caicos from Miami and including charter flights from Provo in bookings. Based on the diving quality and the consistently windy conditions, I would not go back to South Caicos even at East Bay Resort rates. And I am for sure not going back at the prices Salterra wants to charge.

Funny when I used to go there I never had any issues with weather, maybe I was just consistantly lucky, can't say the same about the flights from Provo however. I always had good diving. Now that the osprey Inn on Grand Turk has been broken off snd parted out and Bohio is gone diving over there is greatly reduced also hence the only options for diving Turks are on Provo and Grace bay is pretty beat up. So unlee you are diving the south side of Provo or doing a live aboard. That is what remains available.
