I have my sat available to go diving. I was thinking cape ann to catch some bugs.

Already thinking about the weekend dive , EXCELLENT. Where are you thinking on Cape Ann? I'm a south shore diver and haven't made it up to Cape Ann yet. Perhaps it's time? Any suggestions?

enjoy your dive and perhaps I'll see you on the Cape (Cape Ann that is)

I'm going to be on the south shore that day, and was thinking I might try to get a dive in down there.

Matt,

What site(s) are you thinking of hitting on the South Coast (saturday)? I've only been to Brant Rock (Marshfield) this year and it's a nice dive for sure. Though I would like to try something else. That's why I was thinking north shore with bhapps24, but I dont often get the courage to pass the "great barrier reef" (a.k.a. the Hub of the Universe, Boston).

What sites have you enjoyed on the South Shore?

Brant Rock is a thumbs up for the diving (though a bit shallow), but also the parking is usually a snap and it's a synch to get to (RT3 South to RT138 East when you've seen the water you've arrived).

Also, I noticed you have an advanced certification, I'm just a simpleton with OW cert and got back into it last year after a number of years off. Also I dive Steel 72's. Would being a rookie and a steel tanker cramp your style sir?

Keep me posted.

hey have you ever dived at Minot Beach? I was thinking of trying Minot and wasn't sure of depth, marine life, etc. parking looks iffy.

I hadn't really given it much thought, but it's my turn to mow my grandparents lawn in North Scituate this weekend, so something nearby. High tide's at 7pm, so maybe mid-afternoon?

I grew up in Cohasset, but I haven't done nearly as much diving in the area as I'd like. My favorite South Shore dive sites so far are Minot's Ledge, Pinthis wreck, and Sandy Cove.
I'm always eager to try out a new one... and I've yet to dive Brant Rock.

No, not on a shore dive anyhow. Just don't call me sir. :)

No, but I'd be willing to try it!

Here's a link to a small chart.

If we can get parking, I think we could do well if we start at the boulder on shore (by the "7") and head toward the deeper water rocks with a heading of 80 degrees or so.

I am open to any of the sites on cape ann. Here is a link to cape ann divers list of sites. http://www.capeanndivers.com/findadivesite.htm I have done cathedral, old garden, back beach, folly cove, and pebble beach so far. I was hoping to try try a new site also. Let me know what you think.

bhapps24,
I am looking for someone to show me some divesites in the area. I was looking into the free shore dive trips from CA divers, but they require some cold water experience which i have yet to gain.

I would love someone to take me out so i can gain some experience around here.

If you wouldn't mind a rookie cold water guy hanging out let me know.

Thanks,
John

I had to go and look at an old printout to find the server that produced Matt's chart. Thought I would post the link:

Also, for those looking for a buddy, North Atlantic Scuba in Marshfield has free beach dives at Brant Rock:
Tuesday Jul 20 4:30 pm
Thursday Jul 22 8:30 pm
Thursday Aug 5 4:40 pm

You have to sign a waiver, and unless you have your own flag, you have to stay with the group.

Night dives require a light stick or tank light, a primary, and a backup light.

Call NAS 781 834-4087 to confirm.
