I love AC. We'll be down again this summer, and starting next January I'll probably be there for 3-4 mos, can't wait. Great people, wonderful food, the diving is great, what more do you really want?

This forum is not a place to advertise real estate. This post makes me skeptical as i have read that the project has been stopped until further notice.
I just got back from the Our world under water scuba show and was taken back by the new 1000 room resort / casino / marina getting ready to build down south in Plancencia. They had a booth next to the BTB.
This is a resort to watch in the future

As a land economist, and student of the Caribbean, here are my published sixteen criteria for the ideal destination outside the U.S.:

1. Naturally beautiful, and beauty is protected.
2. No standing army (consequently no junta).
3. Stable and progressive government.
4. Low crime rate.
5. Low government social costs (not a welfare state).
6. Tax haven.
7. Direct flights from major U.S. airports.
8. Small local population relative to land mass.
9. Economy based primarily on tourism and banking.
10. Good wireless coverage and high-speed internet service.
11. Currency tied to U.S. dollar.
12. Primary language is English.
13. Friendly population.
14. Traditional values-based culture.
15. Primarily resort experience rather than cultural experience.
16. Feeling of privacy, safety, and exclusivity.

Nice--nothing like a shameless plug to further your own interests. As for #15, god forbid the tourists actually come in contact with those wild savage natives! *please note extremely heavy sarcasm here*

I hope you realize that you hurt your sales more than help them by making a post like this. Good luck to you, you're going to need it!
