nice beach in Boqueron (just a little south of Cabo Rojo, on the coast), too. When I went there, I recall thinking that the beach was quite large, but almost no one there. Nice and quiet. I think there's a couple hotels/resorts in that area...looked that way. That's even closer than Cabo Rojo.
