I have to travel to Hong Kong & Singapore on a business trip .... anybody know if there is good diving to be had in Singapore ?

I could stay over for a couple of days leave after the meetings in Singapore and get some dives in.

Alternatively is there good diving a short hop away. Malacca straights are on one side with Sunda Islands due South. (Riau, Batam, Rempang) and Sumatra about 30 miles away.

When are you headed to Singapore? If after March (monsoon season), read on. If your trip's real soon, disregard as the winds are blowing hard right now. There's one dive centre I know of that operates all year. I've not used their operation nor have I dived there off season so I have no idea what it would be like.

A lot of Singaporeans hop over to Tioman Island in Malaysia. It's decent diving. Just be aware that the ferry's dodgy. Poorly run and dependant on the tides. It runs from Mersing town. You could fly direct from Singapore though. Berjaya Air runs from Changi Airport to Tioman Island. In fact, you're better off flying. Enjoy the landing though, it's quite thrilling as the pilot has to bank to make the runway. LOL.

You could dive with Fisherman Divers at Salang. I've dived with them before and they're a decent operation. I'm not affiliated with them. I don't work for them either. Just a suggestion. There're many dive ops on the island to choose from. If you're fussed about your accomodation, you're better off staying at a resort on Paya Beach. I've stayed at Paya Beach Resort and it's nice. I've stayed at Salang as well it doesn't have the best accomodation available.

Wherever you go, have fun!

The easy options would be the Philippines, Thailand or Malaysia. Indonesia is also an option but I'm not sure if flights/logistics are as easy.

March/April is peak season here in the Philippines, that would be my choice although I'm biased :)!

It would be worth checking out flight connections and prices for a few locations then narrowing this down after that I guess?

Good luck!

I am in Singapore start of Feb ... could stay on 12th onwards to dive.
if it is a wasted effort, then good to know.

There are just too many options out of Singapore...

Looks like 1st week Feb may not be good for diving - too windy
