Seeing that we have beat to death the certification of dry suit diving, I won't mention it. The question at hand is that do you need to take the class for Nitrox to dive it?

You dang well better unless you like having SEIZURES.

This was not for me, already have the class and currently undergoing to rigors of the IANTDI andvanced Nitrox class. Have a friend who thinks it's ok to dive it w/out the class after numerous talks on why they should not until they have gone through the formal class and understand it. They are diving with someone(who is certified and I think should be drawn and quartered for they are not an instructor) this weekend who obtained for them the Nitrox.

You need the knowledge from the class to be safe and get enough benefit out of the gas.

You will need some way of getting nitrox fills, which usually involves having the card.

Strictly speaking, you can strap on a cylinder of anything and get underwater with no classes at all. In the long run, taking the class and getting the card is your best route.

Well, you don't really need a "class" for anything. What you need is the knowledge, education and trainning, and an agency class is (in most cases) the best way to get it.

Note:The above was brought to you in memory of Genesis. ;)

The class provides alot of good knowledge even if you don't dive Nitrox that often.

If you are diving deeper that OW recommendations you better have had the classes.

Bad things can happen at certain depths and certain PPO's......

They teach you about PPO's in the class.

People should really learn to use the "Search" function. I'm a n00b here and I know I've participated in at least 2 EANx threads since I've been here.

That is just peachy of you to bring that up.....Now if you have something to contribute then do so, if not .........you can PM me and we can discuss

"Do a search" "Do a search" " Do a search" Part of the appeal of Scubaboard is doing some interaction with others. All the "Do a search" folks get SB to mail out news letters and updates and then go turn your computer OFF.
