Hey,

I am looking for a buddy to dive Lake Rawlings next Sunday (they are having a polar bear dive). If anyone is interested, PM me.

Joe

I was at Rawlings yesterday. Pretty good turnout, I'd say about 50 folks showed up when I was there mid-day. Fantastic conditions, best vis I have ever seen there. No thermocline, surface was 47 and bottom was 45, and you could see at least 80 feet. No "muck-o-cline", no algae, nothing. The bright sunshine made it even better.

I have only been diving 3 times in the last 6 months, not counting VA Aquarium dives. Due to all the blowouts last fall, I still have Miss lindsey tickets I need to use, so it was good to get wet again.

My hands were cold and hurt after about 20 minutes, so maybe time to think about some dry gloves...my 5mm wet gloves weren't quite enough. got to spend money on something, right?

Rob

Glad you got wet Rob, we (VB Tech) are planning a trip to Rawlings on Saturday March 13.
You don't need to be Tech to join our group, I was just OW when I started hanging out with the group.
We just got back from Florida doing our Full Trimix training so I don't know if I'm ready for that drop in water temp, but I do have dry gloves & will be using them.

Thanks for the invite Rob. I'll pass on that one, but I am looking to do more local diving this year. I transferred from my old, travel-heavy job to a new one here, very little travel, giving me more time to dive (well, I always thought I had the time before, but my wife had other thoughts). I'm still rec, not tech, but have gotten more experienced since we last dove together a few years back. So, if you are heading out locally and are doing non-deco profiles, drop me a line.

As soon as I get those dry gloves....

Rob
