Hey everyone. I am new to diving and got a question for the experts.

I went diving last Friday out here on Long Island. The dive was great. I saw lots of porgys, fluke, crabs, and such. The next day, Saturday, I felt fine. I went for a 2 mile run Saturday morning and was fine. Saturday night, I suddenly got a fever. It was up around 101. By Sunday afternoon it was gone. I can't help but think this was maybe related to my dive on Friday. Any thoghts? Thanks in advance.

I really do not see how it could be related to diving (but I can be wrong).

This would be better in the Dive Medicine forum. Probably not related, but then, what do I know.

Exposure will often weaken the immune system and cause an outbreak of bacteria or viruses that are always around you but normally not a threat to make you sick. This happens to skiers all the time, when you are exerting yourself and it is colder than you are normally used to. Being underwater can have the same effect.

The short answer: any kind of stress -- mental or physical -- can make you sick.
