Hi,

I will be in São Paulo in September for work and I've heard there's some diving nearby. I have to stay overnight to make a flight connection but can extend to 3 nights if the diving is feasible/worthwhile. Does anyone know the area, or can anyone point me at a good place to look at planning this and finding out about the practicalities?

I am AOW and last dived in November 2015.

Many thanks!

Hey there. Your best bet would be Laje dos Santos, a rocky formation ~35km by boat from Sao Vicente, about a 90min boat ride. The boats that go out there are always the same, different operations charter them each week. From the city of Sao Paulo, the marina is a 50min drive away. All in all, you leave the city ~6:30am and get back ~4pm for a two tank dive.

Visibility is ok but not great, water temp is usually ~20C year round with decent wildlife. A whaleshark was seen there just this sunday but that s a very rare occurrence. Manta rays are also known to be spotted there, mostly during the winter.
