We are a family of five adults vacationing in Orlando in May. One person in our party is a certified diver and wants to go on a dive trip. The other four of us don't dive and don't want to snorkel. Does anyone know of a place that we could take a charter with only one diving and the others just taking a boat ride??? I'd appreciate any help. Kim

Well, I'd suggest if you are palnning on going to Dinsey any during your trip, that your friend dive at The Living Sea at EPCOT. The dive program is called Dive Quest. Your friend can dive and the rest of you can stand in the building and watch him thru the tank walls.

As strange as it sounds, WDW offers divers an opportunity to dive into a huge aquarium full of the most wonderful examples of saltwater reef fish.

Its part of Epcot - Underseas Adventure or something like that. The aquarium is designed to be walked through by the patrons. There is also a sit down restaurant, with one entire wall of glass, that looks into the aquarium.

I haven't had the chance to dive there, but we did eat dinner watching divers expore the imitation reef and the marine life.

It really isn't too pricy, considering that WDW is designed to separate the patron from his money at every opportunity.

I did it and it was a lot of fun.. It it one of those things you have to try and do in life.

i was going to ask this same question, i have seen a fly drive from the uk for £99 and want to know where the best diving within a REASONABLE distance (in UK terms not, US thousands of miles terms) is.

There will be a few of us between 2 and 6.

where would be a good place to see sharks?

would we get to see bulls?

lots of questions, but some basic pointers and we can go from there.

oh and no aquariums, i prefer the real thing.

thanks in advance

you can't help but to dive with sharks in the ocean, just as you will always dive with gators in the fresh water in Florida. Seeing them is quite another matter, but following someone who is spear fishing greatly increases your odds. There is a "shark canyon" over in the West Palm Beach area... I have never dove it, but understand it to have a higher than average shark population.

Since this was a feeding area for sharks until Florida law banned shark feeding...the sharks there associate divers with food...gotta say I got a little nervous

If you can get to the Boynton Beach/Delray Beach area there's a spot called Fink's Grouper Hole that has some sharks (other than nurses) from time to time.

We went two years ago on my brother's first post-certification dive. The captain, Leo Sands, usually doesn't go that far south, but since there were no bookings for the afternoon dive we did.

Saw several bulls and caribbean reef sharks pretty close up. I was worried that my bro might freak out, but he was just in awe!

I hope to get back there soon!
