I'm new to diving and am looking for good sources of diving information. What are some of your favorites in the following categories. I'm looking for general diving information to learn and also good travel information.

web sites
books
dvd's
magazines
blogs

This site is actually the best diving web site I have found so far.

Thanks, Jeff

This site will give you all you need short of in-water practice. Plus it's a lot of fun!

I believe you've found the website with the information you're looking for :D

If there's a question you have, it's probably been asked, so you can search for the answer....if you can't find the answer, someone probably knows it, so you should ask. And, if nothing else, at least you will find some humor in some of the responses! :)

There are a lot of quality websites. Here are a few of my favorites:

Rock Bottom and Gas Management for Recreational Divers

NWGratefulDiver.com

Doc's Diving Medicine Home Page -- great video on equalizing and barotrauma

Fitness and Exercise Articles Just for SCUBA Divers -- articles about fitness, cramps, and mobility for divers

Dive Tek Images -- among their videos are some good examples of propulsion techniques

I recommend to everybody the 5thD-X DVD, Essentials of Recreational Diving which has some beautiful examples of kicking techniques and proper trim.

For books, I like Clay Coleman's Certified Diver's Handbook, Lippman and Mitchell's Deeper into Diving (which has a lot of good stuff on decompression models), and Jarrod Jablonski's Fundamentals of Better Diving, which even if you aren't interested in that kind of diving, has a lot of food for thought.

Have fun -- if you get really hooked, start searching on decompression theory -- There's a lot on the web to read about it!

If I may indulge in a little gratuitous self promotion I'm fond of this site. It's written with new divers in mind and continues to evolve.

Pete
