I just got back from a diving trip to Vieques, Puerto Rico and can't recommend it highly enough. It was amazing.... Overall, some of the best diving I've done so far.

The water temperature was good, the visibility clear and wildlife and plant life abundant. Over two days of diving (4 tanks) we saw an impressive variety of fish including flounder and a barracuda, crabs, lobsters, eels, sand rays (not sure their exact name) and two nurse sharks (one six foot one that we got within about ten feet of while it was sleeping under a ledge).

We did a lot of research before we went and ended up diving with Nan-Sea Charters. They were great and I would definitely recommend them. The two dive masters were among the best I've dove with and the equipment was all in great shape.

On a side note, if you go I would suggest flying from San Juan to Vieques. The Cape Air flight was reasonable compared with taking a taxi and then the ferry, it got us there much more quickly (we had a whole extra half day on each end), and the flight in the small plane was a highlight of the trip.

Hi

My partner and I are looking into spring dive trips and were wondering if anyone could recommend accomodations on Vieques?

thanks to all that post fantastic info on this site! I always come here first to plan our vacations!

I don't know about accommodations, but I have to recommend that you dive with Black Beard sports, and also that you dive the Mosquito Pier.

I was just there and it's one of the best dives I've every done - eagle-spotted rays, turtles galore, amazing macro stuff.
