Hello. I'm planning going to Australia in Christmas, just to scuba diving. I like coral reef and animals of all kind. Big, small. Everything, but wild life. I prefer a live aboard.

Any advice? Thank you. Best regads

Btw you'll be lucky to get a liveaboard over Xmas now, good luck!

Cairns local here. Xmas overnight trips very popular and not much space left. You might get in some of the Outer Reef trips like Scubapro, Reef Encounter, or Ocean Quest all have limited spots in December but not Xmas day.
When did you want to go? DM me and I can let you know in more detail what's available. Bear in mind Reef Encounter has Xmas surcharge of $100 on top of normal prices too.

Thanks for the advice.

I have been checking prices and trips and yes, I have to book with more time.

BTW, what about the question, how is the GRB? Is improving?

We did have a big bleaching event this year, and as much as I would like to say repair is on the up, it's not. However, on the positive side, the coral is getting more resistant and a lot of work by James Cook Uni is going on transplanting more resistant corals.
So long term it will be better.
The higher world climate is affecting all coral Reef its just the GBR gets more publicity. There are still fantastic locations where bleaching is minimal and the operators do vit these as much as possible
