Diving in the finger lakes

So I am trying to put together a list of places I want to go next year in a relatively close driving area. Does anybody know of a good place to go in NY state? I wanted to see Allegheny forest this year but missed out on the fall colors, so next year maybe I'll go mid summer and get some diving in while I am over there.

If there are any other places in NY state or even Michigan that anybody can suggest, I'd be all ears.
