Diving in Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand?

Hello all,

After our trip to Oz, my wife and I will be spending a week in Mount Maunganui in early August. We were hoping to get a dive in mid-week. Can anyone recommend a dive company who might be able to help us out? does anyone have any other advice? We are new divers and have never been to the region and were wondering what the options were in that area.

Greg - try Tauranga Underwater (http://www.diveunderwater.com/). I've been out with them a couple of times and generally they've got a good rep. Currently for sale, though, so may or may not have new owners soon!

My personal favourite dive sites around Tauranga are Astrolabe Reef, Mayor Island and the wreck of the MV Taioma just off Motiti Island. This is an awesome dive if you are into rust, not to be missed!!
