I'm heading back to Sydney next week, this time for around 10 days. I'll be arriving early on Sunday morning. Unless l'm feeling excessively tired from the flight, I'll probably go diving. If that doesn't work out, I'll probably be able to dive on the following Saturday. (Might be flying out to NZ on Sunday, though.)

Last time (couple of weeks ago) I was going to go on a boat dive with ProDive, but the weather got in the way. (Oh well, had a good excuse to spend the day at Bondi Beach.) I was going to rent a drysuit. Has the water warmed up in the Sydney area? What's the current water temperature? What sort of exposure suits are people using in Sydney at this time of year?

If there is any choice in the matter (depending on where ProDive is going), where are the preferred places to dive? Any places to avoid? What about for night dives?

Thanks.

Hi,
I'll be in Sydney around beginning of December and would also love to go diving (if I can convince my boyfriend... ;) ). Can you please tell me how the diving was and where you dived when you're back? Would love to hear your experiences!
Cheers!

Prodive is doing this on Sunday:
The afternoon double boat dive for October 31st is an exploratory excursion. The destination (presently undecided) will be a previously un-dived one along the Sydney coast line.
Has anyone gone on one of these dives before? Obviously "un-dived" is unknown, but what might I expect if I go in this dive?

Thanks for the advice.

My flight arrived too late on the 31st for me to go diving, but I got out on the following weekend. I went with Prodive (on the Sealife V) on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, the dive location for the first dive was North Head. Due to an equipment problem (weight belt wouldn't stay done up) I aborted the second dive.

On Sunday, the dive location for the first dive was the Apartments (Long Reef) and the second dive was Bluefish.

At the Apartments, we saw a school of Yellowtails and a friendly Blue Grouper followed us around. We emerged into the Yellowtail at the exit of a swimthrough, which was fun. At Bluefish, we saw a Bull Ray, Old Wives, a Cuttlefish, as well as other fish.

The Apartments and Bluefish were much richer in marine life than North Head.

I'm looking forward to going back, and I would have no hesitation to go with Prodive (Manly) again. Phil runs a good boat and has a nice crew. I met lots of very friendly people on both days. I had a great time.
