Hi,

I need some hlp on choosing place to stay in Sulawesi. I heard that kungkungan bay resort is really nice, but it s quite far from Menado. Does anyone have any experience staying at Kungkungan Bay resort. How about in Menado itself? Which resort is nice? ANy other recommendation for diving in Sulawesi??

It kind of depends what your priorities and prefernces are when going to the Manado area. If you want to go diving in the Bunaken area, I would recommend Froggies (www.divefroggies.com), however, it's more of a budget spot but still very comfortable and well run by Christiana. If you are looking for something 'nice', perhaps Tasik Ria on the mainland would be more to your liking!! If your into muck diving, I would recommend Rob Sinke's new spot on Lembeh Island ( hhtp://gb.diving-on-sulawesi.com/gb/ ), another well run operation with new accomodation. I heard mixed reports about Kungkungan Bay resort when I was in the area a year ago (it was not very busy after the bombing), so someone else might have more up to date info!! Most spots will arrange tranport from the airport, most at no cost if you dive at their resort. In Manado itself a decent budget spot is the Minihasa Hotel (about $15US)!

I am looking for more macro stuffs. Do you know if there any resort that is not at Menado itself besides kungkungan bay? I am thinking to go either to SUlawesi or Kalimantan. Have you been to both? Anyone s more input?

I have personally stayed in Tasik Ria and dive with the Eco divers. The experience is pretty good. their boat is also the bigger and fastest in the region, I think.

lin4, if you are looking for macro stuff. Lembeh Straits has loads of that.

Kunkungan is lembeh!

Went earlier this year very nice diving, the resport is in process of change, they were short of staff but promising to get more in, there are a couple of other operators in the area. You need to look at your budget and see what you want to spend as the prices vary a lot. frankly the divng is all good there, kungkungan is excellent in this respect and caters well to camera users. The acoomodation is nice although service was a little slow. if you want some thing more budget there are some otehrs you could try (will have to google it im afraid i didnt keep details)

Hiya i am going in dec to Bunaken island north sulawesi (do a search) have spoken to a few people sounds pretty good few sites to look at 2fish divers and one called bastinos.

From what i have heard and above everyone say's lembah straight is best for macro all the pros go there

The Lembeh side use Lembeh Resort at www. lembehresort.com and for the Manado side use Murex Resort www.murexdive.com they have the same owners and have been in the area for20 years their service is very good. The diving is world class.

Hi guys,

I'm organizing a trip to Manado from Malaysia this coming Christmas for around 5 days or maybe even 8 days. Anyone of you interested?

I've done a rough calculation with some discount rate that i got, for a trip of 5 days 4 nights, it's around MYR1900, full board, inclusive or 10dives. We're targetting 25th - 30th Dec.

Let me know or contact me if you are interested.
