Do any of you have a suggestion for a good, serious diving operator in Playa del Carmen. Or do you recommend us to go to Cozumel? Never been to Mexico.

Any help and suggestion very much appreciated.

Well, firstly I'd avoid the cattle boats that go from the beaches by the hotels. I did one dive with them (can't remember the company name) and that was enough. There was around 30 divers on the boat and no particular attempt to control whether everyone was back on board after the dive. They just asked the dive leaders "all your divers back?" and a "yes" was enough.

I did the rest of my diving there with Dive Mike located in the town (about 15 mins walk from the hotel district). I would happily dive with them again - small groups of 4 or 5 and good dive guides.
