Went in Spain, it was really a very nice dive, much like California, only no sharks. The water was clear and cold, and there were tons of octopi. Not a whole lot of fish from what I could see, and no corals. Nice diving though. Very different.

Uhmm...it's a stupid poll: it's water, so of course I like diving in it ;) Then again, I am known for enjoying diving in most anything, as long as it's not pure sewer....

On a more serious note, diving in the mediteranean can be quite great. I've done a number of dives out of the south of France, and there're quite OK things to see and do. I guess it depends what you're into. It's not tropical island diving, nor is it north-sea-chills or mysterious sunken u-boats.

Also note, that the mediteranean is big. The wildlife, the wrecks, the waters differ from place to place. I've been diving crappy places in the mediteranean, and I've been diving in great places.

[Moderators, if providing links to dive-centers isn't accepted, please remove the following section. It is the only place I know of with this sort of info for the med., so I thought that it might be appropriate? I have no comercial interrests in the center, but I've been diving with them a few times as a paying customer]

Out of Marseilles in France, there are quite a few good dives. This guy has a good index of dive sites out of Marseilles http://www.lssmi.com, as well as underwater wildlife http://www.lssmi.com/faune/index.htm that you might encounter in that part of the med. Also, checking out the site is a good refresher of your high-school english :)

Hi, I worked in Gozo and Malta both places have some great diving caves wrecks swim throughs and great viz.

Cant answer the pool as its too vague.

*WHERE* in the med makes a big difference.

Generally it has good vis and warm waters.

However, the eastern side around Greece and further over is relatively devoid of fish life having been fished out. Its recovering but very slowly.

If you're after some good wrecks and caves Malta is good, cyprus is apparently OK and Turkey.

The western side around spain and the islands however is far better in terms of life and the best diving ive done to date.
