Anyone ever dove Manzanillo? I will be there for the first time in November. We usually dive Coz and Cabo but we got a sweet deal on this trip. Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks

We have a guy that flies EVERY MONTH to Mexico to go diving. I just put him on a plane to Mazatlan yesterday, so when he gets back next week I'll ask about ZLO for ya. (PLEASE don't make me spell it out! lol...It's just ZLO to me from now on since it's the airport code....just like Zijuatenejo is ZIH! lol....)

thanks kristey! i'll look forward to hearing from you.

Manzanillo diving is the greatest , been there many times, dive with UNDERWORLD SCUBA Susan & Carlos will take good care of you.

latest report is they are seeing new seahorses
the shop has new rental gear so don't be afraid of renting
to the best of my knoledge they are the only LEGIT shop there; Jorge Sosa from Neptune's diving has had his instructor's license revoked.but he still advertises that he's Naui so i have to question what his status is with PADI
This came off the NAUI web site:
Sosa, Jorge #35861 - (Suspended: 12/11/2002, Revoked: 7 February, 2004)
IMHO if your a "bad instructor" with 1 agency i'd guess you'd be with all agency's.

i was in manzanillo on the firs week of february 2005 i dove with jorge and lluvia ( two great divers) they took us to pena blanca, great place to dive.
i was reading this letter about sosa having his linces revoke.
im surprise to hear that sosa was not linces
he treated us great took us to some great diving spots in manzanillo
susan and carlos (scuba shak) stop to ask about tanks, they were a bit too high on price

hi. I dove manzanillo at january. it was a really nice place. i went to "los frailes" just front of playa "santiago" and was surprised of the quantity of life that was there. The most remarkable were a group of huge barracudas, an eagle ray, and a big turtle.
I booked my trip with a divestore in Guadalajara (3 hours from Manzanillo) You can contact them to see if they have trips to manzanillo on the dates you will be there. www.oceanos.com.mx

We are a new shop in Manzanillo and I have been diving in SoCal, Great Lakes and all around the Caribbean. Manzanillo won't have the visibility of a Caribbean dive but the bottom is interesting and I have never seen the diversity of fish life I've seen here. Endangered Hawksbill turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels. Visit Mazanillo. We have a list of dive site on our website. AquaticSportsAdventures.

I've been diving in manzanillo for 6 years and I like it a lot. There are almos all kind of dives there, I've seen there Eagle rays, Manta rays, turtles, Angel sharks, sea horses, Dolphins, and all kinds of small fish. there are some traditional dive sites like Roca del elefante (Elephant rock), but there are also some great sites that are not so common like Carrizales, Cinto de cobre (copper belt), Orejas de caballo (Horse ears), Piramides (Piramids), to dive from the boat, from shore you can dive Club de yates (Yatch club) and La Boquita (Little mouth) where you can find some sort of wreck (I think its more like a lot of scrap piled together), but theres a lot of silt and the visibilite there is ussually very bad.

I Usually dive with Neptunes, who are locate inside the Barcelo Karmina Palace Hotel, from where you board the boat. The Owner is Jorge (George) who is really friendly, as is all the staff(Greetings to Gero, Sue, Marie, Hugo, Tyler, Steve and John). The only thing I dont like from them is that the tanks are not ussually filled all the way to 3000 psi, they are normally between 2700 psi and 2900 psi.

There is also the Scuba Shack (Carlos and Susan), I've never dove with them but i've heard that they are also very nice people and can take you to some great places. I've rented some tanks with them and I can say that all the tanks had 3000 psi.

That being said, I can tell you that I've just came back from diving in Manzanillo last Weekend and the conditions were awfull! I dove three days (Friday21 - Sunday 23 august 09) and the visibility wet from bad to worst, with a lot of currents.

However I've been told that in november there are ussually great diving conditions. I'm plannig to go there also in september - November.

I was in Manzanillo a few years ago and dove with Susan Dearings crew at Underworld Scuba the divemaster I dove with was great if he is still there I can't remember his name but i am sure he said he was some sort of Biologist. He took me on some real cool dives. The one thing I remember was that the visibility wasn't the greatest, but there was lots of life there. Eagle rays, morays etc
